PTS code of conduct
PROMOTING AND MAINTAINING A SAFE SPACE FOR PTS ACTIVITIES
THINK ABOUT IT . . . .
The PTS core values are Respect, Equality and Dignity…
Of equal importance are Safety, Confidentiality and Ownership.
By extending these values to our peers and community members, PTS can be a
welcoming, safe and discrimination-free environment for everybody.
We all like to feel welcome and comfortable, so, take responsibility for making the PTS environment a safe space. Remember, treating people with respect, equality, and dignity matter… every day.
• Reject targeting others by race, sex, sexual orientation, gender or
any other “label”. In the PTS environment our goal is to encourage
people and to lift them up. We do not break people down.
• Be discreet when using language that might be offensive to others in the PTS environment and do not direct offensive language towards others.
• Reject emotional abuse, verbal and non-verbal threats, unwelcome gestures/actions or any form of physical violence.
• There is zero tolerance for drug or alcohol consumption on PTS premises. Those under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave.
• Respect the confidentiality of others. What is said in the group remains in the group.
• Avoid outing people’s gender identity, transition status or orientation. Everybody has the right to disclose their own personal history.
• Respect other people’s right to speak and share in a discussion. Avoid rejecting or dismissing the feelings or opinions of others.
• Listen respectfully. Avoid “cross-table or cross-room talking” during a discussion. Everyone should be actively listening when someone is speaking.
• Avoid disruptive behaviours including; cell
phone use, media player use, or coming and going during group discussions
and presentations. If you leave the group during this time please be respectful
and wait in the lobby until a break in the presentation or until the presentation
is over.
