Dr. Robert Kelly McGinnis (June 7, 1959 - December 25, 1999) |
Kelly was born in Winnipeg 7 of June 1959. Following two years of high school in Nairobi, Kenya, he attended St. John's Ravenscourt School in Winnipeg. Kelly graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine in 1983, followed by a residency at McGill University in Montreal.
He had a thriving medical practice in Ottawa and gained the respect and devotion of his colleagues and patients. He had many talents including, music, painting, photography and landscaping. He was an expert swimmer and taught swimming.
Kelly was an active member of the Ottawa-Carleton H.I.V. Primary Care Group, and active member of the Canadian College of Family Physicians and a mentor to the Canadian HIV AIDS Mentor Programme, and consequently, was invited to attend many international conferences as a resource person.
Dr. McGinnis also taught 1st year medical students at the University of Ottawa his skills as a caring, compassionate family physician.
