Welcome to the Ottawa Bisexual Women’s Discussion Group’s website. At the Pink Triangle Services, we have found a comfortable space to meet and talk. All women are welcome.
What is the Ottawa Bisexual Women’s Discussion Group?
The OBWDG is a gathering of women that are either questioning their sexuality or are self-identified as bisexual/queer. The group is run by volunteers.
We meet on the 1st Thursday of the month, from September to June, from 7pm to 9pm, at PTS, 251 Bank Street, 3rd floor.
What do women do at these meetings?
We meet on a monthly basis and discuss various topics related to bisexuality. The topics are chosen by the women attending the meetings. Some discussions are moderated by a volunteer facilitator, some meetings have more of a social flavour. After the meeting, we often head over to a nearby coffee shop or pub, depending on the consensus, and continue socializing.
How many women go?
Attendance at the meetings ranges from as few as 6 women or so to as many as 20 or more, depending on the topic or event, weather, holidays, etc…
What kind of people go?
Women of all kinds attend the meetings. Some of us are questioning our sexuality and wonder if we might be bisexual. Some of us live with men and are attracted to or involved with women, some live with women, some are single, some are monogamous, some have more than one partner, some are transgendered. We are there for various reasons, to meet other bi women, to support one another and share our experiences, to be in a space where we feel accepted for who we are.
I want to attend but I am nervous… is that normal?
ABSOLUTELY!! We were all nervous the first time we walked into our first meeting. We welcome newcomers and some of us will happily share the nervousness we felt when we first decided to show up to a meeting. You can attend and say as little or as much as you want. Generally, women feel relieved once they have attended a meeting… relieved that they are not alone, that other women are going through similar questioning and experiences, and that there are resources available to assist them in their process.
Does the group organise activities outside the monthly meeting?
Yes we plan things like going to women's dances, "The Look Out", gay pride festivities. We even had a float in the Parade one year (see below).

Most of the organising of activities is done from our list serv.
